At CES 2023, NVIDIA announced new hardware products: GeForce RTX 4070 Ti as well as GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptops.
RTX 4070 Ti: the RTX 4080 12GB is back
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will be available January 5th. According to NVIDIA, this GPU is “faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, at nearly half the power”. —–
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti features 7680 CUDA cores, 12GB GDDR6X, 2.61GHz/2.31GHz (boost/base clock).
These specs might remind you another product… They are identical as the specs of the RTX 4080 12GB that was announced last October, then cancelled by NVIDIA. The announcement was criticized at the time: the RTX 4080 16GB and the RTX 4080 12GB were very different GPUs, with very different specs, and not just the same GPU with 12 ou 16GB of memory. Many people therefore thought it was quite strange to give them the same name.
Even if the RTX 4070 Ti is a renamed 4080 12GB, there’s a good surprise: it’s now cheaper than it was supposed to be, since a few months have passed since the first announcement.
The RTX 4070 Ti will be available starting 800$, $100 below the original price of the RTX 4080 12GB. We should also mention that no Founders Edition will be available for the 4070 Ti.

RTX 4050, 4060, 4070, 4080 for laptops
NVIDIA also unveiled new RTX 40xx GPUs for laptops. Five GPUs have been announced (for more detailed specs, head over to NVIDIA).
As usual, this laptop GPUs are less power-hungry, but also less powerful, than their workstation counterparts. These new GPUs support DLSS3, CUDA 8.9. NVIDIA partners such as Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer, Samsung have already announced more than 170 laptop models featuring these new chips.
From February 8th, GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 laptops will be available. They will be followed by GeForce RTX 4070, 4060, and 4050 Laptop GPUs on February 22nd.
