The Last Voyage of the Demeter was released August 11th in US theaters. Directed by André Øvredal, this movie is an adaptation of a chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, and it “tells the story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London.”

RISE just unveiled a VFX breakdown for the movie. The VFX studio worked on environments (such as a beautiful city near the sea), ocean simulations, the Demeter itself, fire. They also worked on a dry for wet sequence, which you can see at the end of the breakdown.

You might also want to watch the interview we did with RISE last year at SIGGRAPH: we asked the team about USD, their work on Matrix Resurrections, and they also talked a little bit about The Last Voyage of the Demeter (12’38”).
