Disney announces that Lucasfilm/Industrial Light & Magic Singapore will close its doors in the coming months. The company explains that “Over the next several months, ILM will be consolidating its global footprint and winding down its Singapore studio due to economic factors affecting the industry”.

Launched back in 2004, the Singapore studio worked on projects such as the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

This announcement happens as the entertainement industry as a whole is restructuring. As a reminder, Disney has been laying off thousands of people worldwide, affecting 7000 jobs. Their goal is to cut costs by 5.5 billions dollars. Last, but not list, this announcement is made as writers and actors are still on strike in the USA.
