The first trailer for Super Mario Bros. has been unveiled, and it doesn’t disappoint: beloved characters, lots of FX, carefully crafted animation and environments… Once again, Illumination Mac Guff delivered. Universal and Illumination, chose not to tell us too much about the storyline. Instead, they clearly wanted to focus on the visual style. You can watch the trailer below, both in English and, since Illumination Mac Guff is located in Paris, in French.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (who already worked together on the Teeen Titans Go! series & movie), Super Mario Bros. will be released on April 7, 2023 in the USA. Matthew Fogel (The Lego Movie 2, Minions: The Rise of Gru) wrote the screenplay. The movie is produced by Chris Meledandri (Illumination co-founder) and Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo.
