Logitech announces the MX INK, a stylus designed for the Meta Quest.
The MX INK allows drawing on 2D surfaces, as well as interacting in 3D, for example for creative apps.
Compatible with Meta Quest 2 and 3, the MX INK features three buttons, a tip for 2D interactions, and offers haptic feedback. It can be used in VR or MR (mixed reality). The tip is replaceable and comes in wide/fine variants. Pressure sensitivity is managed through both the tip and one of the buttons. Details such as the number of pressure levels or customizable pressure curves are not yet available, but initial feedback from the ongoing Augmented World Expo in the USA is positive, highlighting low latency.
The battery has an estimated 7-hour usage time under normal conditions, and recharges via USB-C or an optional dock. A mat is also offered with a surface optimized for the stylus, though its price is relatively high (about $50).
Lastly, the MX INK is compatible with numerous VR tools, and Logitech encourages developers to contact them to expand support. Compatibility with various tools will obviously be key to its commercial success.
The MX INK is priced around $130 in the US (basic version, without dock or mat). European pricing has not been disclosed. The public launch is expected in September.
