Watch Acrobats, a short film created by Gobelins Paris students (class of 2024). The team chose to portray a girl in an oppressive household. Unable to express her true self, she ends up vomiting hundreds of acrobats onto the family living room table.
Behind this overflowing visual metaphor lies an exploration of self-assertion and pride. The team opted for a dreamy and stylized approach, showcasing their animation talents through dynamic framing, the emotional expression of the main characters, and, of course, the surprising troupe of acrobats.
The film also avoids a perfect, easy resolution in favor of a bittersweet ending, creating a striking contrast with the aesthetic choices. This approach likely offers a more realistic perspective on the themes addressed.
